Powerhouse Museum– Graphic Identities of Australian Design

Olivia Chen
Feb, 2022
Australian graphic design today is built on foundations put in place by a group of men and women working in the mid-late 20th century who advocated for a professionalised design industry and established a uniquely Australian visual aesthetic.

The Graphic Identities exhibition offers a nuanced reading of this Australian design history and provides new perspectives on this significant period of pre-digital practice.

In this associated panel discussion, leading creative directors from strategic brand, design and digital studios will input to a rapidly evolving discourse on Australia’s design history while reflecting on their own contribution to the local industry – in the context of globalisation and networked communication technologies.

Speakers:

Dominic Hofstede, Creative Director, Mucho, and Founder, Re:collection

Melissa Baillache, Creative Director, For The People

James Duru, Creative Director, DesignStudio

Olivia Chen, Founder and Creative Director, Studio Chenchen

Hosted by Keinton Butler, Senior Curator Design and Architecture, Powerhouse
