Australian graphic design today is built on foundations put in place by a group of men and women working in the mid-late 20th century who advocated for a professionalised design industry and established a uniquely Australian visual aesthetic.
The Graphic Identities exhibition offers a nuanced reading of this Australian design history and provides new perspectives on this significant period of pre-digital practice.
In this associated panel discussion, leading creative directors from strategic brand, design and digital studios will input to a rapidly evolving discourse on Australia’s design history while reflecting on their own contribution to the local industry – in the context of globalisation and networked communication technologies.
